Fuel Pools

MONK is used to efficiently and effectively solve fuel storage criticality safety problems and provide real benefits to plant operators. Detailed models of the storage facility geometry are combined with a physically realistic collision physics representation, a reliable convergence algorithm, supporting validation data and links to inventory prediction methods for burnup credit.

VISAGE provides detailed geometry checking capabilities. The graphical user interface provides a simple route to producing quality colour 2D images of the MONK model. The ability to zoom in to provide greater detail in particular areas of interest and the ability to read dimensions from the display aids the QA of model construction. VISTA-RAY and WIRE are used for 3D images.

VISTA-TRACK enables the path taken by the tracked neutrons through the system to be displayed. This is used to visualise important interaction effects and qualitatively confirm sampling adequacy. Quantitative sampling guidance is included in the standard MONK output.
