Chapter 4

Point Clusters

In this case random fractures are clustered around a random set of points. Any random set can be clustered around parent points located by a uniform spatial process with a specified density. This option is selected using the POINT CLUSTERS table.

Random fractures are generated around each parent point according to a density and a spatial spread. The location of fractures centres is sampled from a normal distribution centred on the parent point and standard deviation equal to the spatial spread.

The example opposite contains two fracture sets. One set is coloured red, the other green. Each set is clustered around an independent set of parent points. Two horizontal trace maps are shown.
