Summary
This case study
has shown how the facilities of NAMMU have been used in groundwater flow and transport
calculations performed as part of the Nirex 97 assessment of the performance of
a potential repository at Sellafield.
The flexibility
of the finite-element method enabled complex domains to be represented well.
3D and 2D
models were created.
Calculations
of groundwater flow coupled to salinity and heat were undertaken.
Radionuclide
transport calculations were carried out.
The calibrated
models matched site observations.
