Description

The clustering dialog box is used to apply clustering to a realisation that has fracture sets.
The clustering dialog box is displayed by selecting a realisation item in the
session tree and choosing Clusters from the right-click menu. Only one clustering dialog box can be open at once, so this menu item is disabled if the dialog box is already open. If the dialog box is required for a different realisation then the open dialog box must be closed first.
The Clusters menu item is not available for items that are not realisations or for realisations that do not have fracture sets.

The image below shows one level of fractures clustered around a well.

Buttons

The clustering dialog box has three buttons at the bottom:
OK
Applies the settings, closes the dialog box, generates the clusters and displays results (if requested).
If there have been no changes to the settings then the dialog box just closes and displays the results (if requested).
Cancel
Discards any changes since the last Apply, if any, and closes the dialog box.
Apply
Applies the settings, generates the clusters, displays results (if requested) and leaves the dialog box open.
If there have been no changes then only the results are displayed (if requested).

Enabling

Clustering can be enabled and disabled using the Enable clustering check box.
If clustering is disabled, the rest of the panel will become disabled.

Results

If the Show results check box is ticked then the results from the clustering are displayed after the OK or Apply buttons are clicked.
The image below shows the results for a 3 level cluster around a well.

The results dialog box gives a summary of how and when the clustering was carried out followed by a table giving the results.
The table gives has a line for each cluster, listing the cluster number, the source of the cluster, the number of fractures in each level of the cluster and the total number of fractures in the cluster.
Clicking the Close button closes the results dialog box.
Clicking the Save button saves the results to a file in HTML format or in comma separated value (CSV) format, suitable for loading into a spreadsheet.

Levels

The number of levels of clustering are entered into the Number of levels text box.
The number of levels determines the extent of the connectivity in the clusters.
If the level is 1 then only fractures directly connected to the cluster sources are displayed.
If the level is 2 then the level 1 fractures are displayed plus those fractures connected to them, and so on for higher levels.

Sources

The source(s) of clustering can be selected as Cluster around point or Cluster around wells.

Cluster around point
If clustering around a point then the X, Y and Z coordinates of the point can be entered into the adjacent text boxes.
By default the coordinates of the centre of the realisation are used.
The start of the cluster is the fracture whose centre is closest to this point. This fracture represents level 1 of the cluster.
Cluster around wells
If clustering around wells then the wells can be selected from the list. More then one well can be selected using shift or ctrl clicking.
Each selected well is the source for one cluster. The level 1 fractures in the clusters are those fractures directly intersecting the selected wells.
