Description

The feature transformation panel is part of the feature properties dialog box. It is used to transform features using rotation, scaling and translation (in that order).

Enabling

Transformations can be enabled and disabled using the Apply transformations check box.
If transformations are disabled they will no be applied to features and the rest of the panel will become disabled.

Transformation centre

The Transformation centre sub-panel defines the centre of all transformations. The X, Y and Z coordinates of the centre are entered in the corresponding text boxes.
The transformation centre affects rotation and scaling, but has no effect on translation.
By default, the transformation centre is the centre of the model that the selected features belong to, if any.

Rotation

The Rotation sub-panel defines the rotation of the features around the transformation centre.
The angles of rotation in degrees around the X, Y and Z axes can be set by using the sliders or by entering the values directly into the corresponding text boxes.
The angles must be between 0 and 360 degrees and are added to the starting position of each feature.
The X rotation is applied to the features first, then the Y rotation and then the Z rotation.

Scale factor

The Scale factor sub-panel defines the scaling of the features relative to the transformation centre.
The scale factors in the X, Y and Z directions are entered into the corresponding text boxes.
The scale factors must be greater than 0. A scale factor of 1.0 means no scaling.
Note that the scaling affects the distance of each feature from the transformation centre as well as its size.

Translation

The Translation sub-panel defines the translation of the features.
The translations in metres in the X, Y and Z directions are entered into the corresponding text boxes.
Negative values are allowed.
The translation gives an offset for the features from their starting positions. This is often useful when positioning externally loaded features.

Reset

Clicking the Reset button will reset the transformation settings back to their default values.
