Eclipse Grid (*.dat)
This file defines a structured grid in the Eclipse ECLGRD format that may be irregular in the x and y directions.
The format of the file is:
- Some header lines
- A line beginning with the keyword SPECGRID to indicate the next line contains the grid size
- A line containing the size of the grid nx, ny and nz cells
- A blank line
- A line containing the keyword COORD
- 2*(nx+1)*(ny+1) giving the coordinates of the nodes on the top and bottom
surfaces of the grid. The nodes generally start in the NW corner and cycle W to E
and then N to S.
- A line containing a / indicating the end of the COORD section
- A blank line
- A line containing the keyword ZCORN
- Multiple lines containing the (nx+1)*ny+1)*(nz+1) z values of each node starting on the top in the
NW, then cycling W to E, then N to S, and finally top to bottom.
- A line containing a / indicating the end of the ZCORN section
x and y coordinates are in metres, z is subsea depth in feet.
