GocadTsurf (*.tfc)

This file defines a single triangulated surface (transmissive fracture surface) in the Gocad TSurf format.

The format of the file is:

  1. A line specifying the format of the file
  2. A line initiating the header section with the keyword HEADER {
  3. A line giving the name of the transmissive surface and starting with the keyword name:
  4. A line ending the header section with }
  5. An optional line indicating whether the transmissivity values are included by the keyword PROPERTIES and either the keywords 'trans' (for transmissivity) or 'Net' and 'perm' (for thickness and permeability, respectively). If 'trans' is given this is used, else if 'Net' and 'perm' are specified then the transmissivity is the product of 'Net' times 'perm'
  6. A line giving the value of null values for properties
  7. An optional line containing the keyword PROPERTY_CLASSES and the names and units of the properties. E.g. indicating the units of transmissivity used. These must be either 'metres^2/seconds', 'mD.ft' or 'mDarcies*feet'. In Napsac this unit will be converted to SI units i.e metres2/second.
  8. An optional line containing the keyword UNITS and the units of the properties. E.g. indicating the units of transmissivity used. These must be either 'metres^2/seconds', 'mD.ft' or 'mDarcies*feet'. In Napsac this unit will be converted to SI units i.e metres2/second.
  9. The optional keyword ESIZES 1 (not used by NAPSAC)
  10. Multple lines containing the keyword PVRTX, a fracture corner number, the x, y, and z coordinates of the corner and the optional thickness, permeability and transmissivity value at the corners. If different values are used at each corner, then the geometric mean value of the three vertices of each traingle is used. X and y coordinates must be in metres. z must be elevation and in metres, unless transmissivity is given in Oil units (mD feet).
  11. Mutiple lines beginning with the keyword TRGL and the three corner numbers given the vertices of each triangle on the surface. The surface need not be singly connected.
  12. A line containing the keyword END to indicate the end of the surface
